Personal Life

2Baba whose full name is Innocent Ujah Idibia was born on 18 September 1975 in Jos Plateau in Nigeria. 2Baba’s parents are the late Mr Michael Idibia and Rose Idia who hail from Benue State which means that 2Baba’s state of origin is Benue State. 

2Baba has three siblings, all of them boys namely Steven Idibia, Hyacinth Idibia and Oche Idibia. Two of 2Baba’s brothers - Steven and Oche - are also in the music industry while Oche’s career exploits remain unknown.

2Baba’s Schooling

2Baba attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Benue State. He then proceeded to the University of Jos where he was enrolled in a one-year degree program before he did his preliminary National Diploma course in business and administration management at the Institute of Management & Technology. 2Baba did not complete his tertiary education as he ditched it to pursue his music career.  

2Baba’s Career 

While in school, 2Baba was the guy who provided entertainment to fellow students and also composed music and jingles at the Enugu State Broadcasting Services from which he made some money. After he ditched school, 2Baba relocated to Lagos where he met Ahmedu Augustine Obiado popularly known as Blackface and Chibuzor Oji also known as Faze with whom they formed the band Plantashun Boyz. The trio’s partnership was short-lived as they parted ways after a disagreement between 2Baba who then went by the name Tuface with Faze. 

In the aftermath of the fallout, 2Baba launched his solo career. His first album "Face2Face" threw 2Baba into the limelight as the single “Africa Queen” became a major hit and provides for a nice throwback. To date, the song has upwards of 17 million views on YouTube. Other songs in the “Face2Face” album include “Keep On Rocking”, “Thank U Lord”, and “Right Here”.

From then on, 2Baba released six more albums “Grass 2 Grace” (2006) produced under the Kennis Music Record Label after which he set up Hypertek Entertainment record label. The rest of his albums were released under Hypertek - “The Unstoppable” (2009) for which he made an international edition in 2010, “Away & Beyond” in 2012, “The Ascension” launched in 2014 and “Warriors” released in 2020.

Other hit songs that 2Baba has released include “Let Somebody Love You”, “My Rainbow”, “Only Me”, "Ife Dinma", and “Implication” amongst others.

He’s also worked with some of the biggest musicians like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tiwa Savage and others. 

Away from music, 2Baba has other investments - a nightclub, books, real estate, his record label Hypertek Entertainment, endorsement deals and books from which he draws his income.

2Baba’s wife Annie Idibia aired her husband’s dirty laundry in public when she accused him of cheating. 2Baba’s first baby mama Pero Adeniyi was seemingly the source of Annie’s frustration as she alleged that his husband spent the night with her after visiting Disney with their kids. 

She also shared that 2Baba’s family never approve of her hence the "disrespect". Whilst 2Baba remained silent on the matter, one of his brothers fired back and accused Annie of disrupting the peace within the Idibia family. He further cautioned her about embarrassing 2Baba in public.

This group is reported to have been formed in 1976 and 2Baba is said to have joined it during his university days.
