D'Banj has come under fire from social media users who accused him of 'trying to silence' his alleged rape victim after she was detained this week...

The Naija superstar also raised eyebrows when he slapped the victim with a N100 million lawsuit of which he labelled her allegations "false and ludicrous" and "lies from the pit of hell".

According to investigative reporter Kiki Mordi, Seyitan Babatayo, the woman who tweeted her story accusing the singer of raping her in her Glee hotel room in 2018, was detained on Tuesday in Ikeja, Lagos.

Kiki claims that the woman was denied access to lawyers and was 'pressured' into retracting her version of events regarding the incident as well as deleting her tweets.

Following the news, the Kokomaster also took to social media to speak out about the allegations, where he also revealed his plans to sue Seyitan for the large sum of money.

He wrote; "I have chosen to do so because the incident is a slap to my marriage and my beautiful wife, my entire family and those who believe in me.

"I did not want to dignify the slurs with a response but it appears my silence has empowered my accusers to think i have been scared into the shadows so I would like to state that this accusation are false and ludicrous and have been handed over to my legal team, while the Nigerian police is investigating the criminal aspect of it.

Nigerian tweeps reacted to the news in anger, calling out the singer for 'using his wealth and influence' to essentially intimidate his victim.

See what they had to say...

Even the Nigerian Feminist Forum condemned D'Banj's actions in a strongly worded letter;

Looks like D'banj's attempt to clear his name has backfired dismally!
