Davido's Bestie Cubana Chief Priest Dismisses Woman's Claim of Assault

In a country where statistics of violence and rape of women are not only alarming but a daily occurrence, news of a high profile star being linked to such a crime is disheartening and disturbing...

Cubana Chief Priest, a close friend of singing superstar Davido, is one of those stars who have been accused of brutally assaulting a woman.

This past week, reports emerged alleging the club and music promoter repeatedly punched a female staff member in the face, who works at his Cubana restaurant in Owerri.

According to the woman, whose name is Rekiya Jibril, Chief Priest assaulted in her the presence of customers and left her bruised and bleeding.

She wrote on her private Instagram page; ”Cubana Chief Priest, formally known as Paschal Okechukwu assaulted me when I was working at Cubana, Owerri on Sunday 23rd August 2020. Witnesses at the scene saw him punch me in the face and after doing so, Chief Priest was held back by paying customers to stop him from attacking me any further. Rekiya claims she has officially reported the matter to the police against the star.

Sharing pics of her beaten face as well as police and medical reports, she continued; "I have not taken the assault lightly and have made a report to have him arrested. Swipe for Hospital report and police report. Say NO to violence against women. Women’s Lives MATTER ”

Following the news, Chief Priest took to his own Instagram account to refute the claims, labeling them "false and defamatory".

"I am a lover and proud supporter of women, a happily married man with kids, my biggest dream is to have a baby girl of my own which God in His infinite mercy will soon grant," he wrote of the accusations.

He also vowed to launch an investigation into the claims, as well as allegations he is an abusive man.

He added; "I have instructed my legal team to take action urging the Nigerian police to investigate properly these false accusations".
