Jason Njoku has revealed how much he pays for one of his children’s education in Nigeria, to the surprise of some and the irritation of a lot more. On Twitter, someone uploaded a screenshot of the school fees of a popular private school which read 4.6million naira. This tweep admitted that the school was a good one but asked if the price was worth it.

Jason responded that it was cheap and gave reasons why.
For Tier 1 education in Africa (forget about globally) this is cheap. I pay more for my 3-year olds montessori school. And she is there only 7am - 3 pm.

On his personal twitter page, Jason reposted it with more detail:

'Most Nigerians don't realise but most things in Nigeria are actually super cheap by African (forget global standards). For Tier 1 education in Africa (forget about globally) this for boarding school is cheap. I pay more for my 3-year olds montessori school'.

His reason for paying that amount for a Montessori school was because he and his wife could not enjoy that privilege, and the people who have the money to send their kids to such schools are not complaining:
'My wife and I didn't have any of the privilege we enjoy today. They know who their market is and N4-5m isn't a big problem for anyone sending their kids here. There a dozen schools at this level like this in Lagos. Easy'.
The real drama began when people revealed that in his media company Iroko Tv, which he runs with his wife, the staff are paid 30 thousand naira- Nigeria’s minimum wage.

And they will be pricing graduate to work for iroko TV for 30k,all of Una de mad.

How much does he pay graduates at iroko TV?? 30k i guess?

In response to the question about how much they pay workers, Mary Njoku made a post on her Instagram to defend why they pay what they pay at Iroko TV
She said ‘if you provide 2million naira service, you get paid 2million naira. If you provide 10k service, you get same’.

To this, a follower replied:

But when you want to employ people you ask for those qualifications? It's normal for there to be an acceptable minimum wage for such qualification, if the person is not doing their job enough or not good enough then don't employ them. Sorry but this is just another excuse to pay people shitty salary.
Another said:

Because you are privileged to find yourself on the other side of the coin, you can talk without empathy. Stop exploiting graduates!!! Give them what they are worth and I’m sure 40k is not what any graduate is worth! If I took this foolish mentality I will still be underpaid to date. I walked away from a 40k job on the first day of resumption and got a 100k job few months later as my first salary in Life. So Nigerian employers should do better and stop giving excuses for their exploitation.

We can only hope that apart from their salary, the staff have other benefits.
