Mercy Johnson has spoken out about an online scam using her name to con innocent people out of money...

The Nollywood actress, who currently lives abroad in the US, posted a clip of warning her followers about a new fraudulent new scheme on social media.

According to Mercy, the fraudster is using her name on Facebook to supposedly give away prizes, after which they ask fans to send them money to release them.

Mercy says in the clip; "I hate the fact that so many of you are being defrauded on a daily basis.

"I do not have any Facebook page or account where I tell you to send money to me because you've won a vehicle or won money...that's fake.

"These fraudulent activities are not from me or my team...Don't believe everything you read or don't believe anyone who comes to you saying it's from me and asking you to pay money...I would never do that."

In the caption of the clip she added; "Please don’t fall victim to scammers. Only follow all my verified pages for updates and information from me.

Mercy's message to fans comes a few days after she confessed hat she would never again star in a movie involving a romantic storyline - out of respect for her husband; Prince Odianosen Okojie and four kids.

"I don't want my kids to start asking me questions", Mercy said of the potentially awkward scenario.

The couple celebrated their nine-year wedding anniversary last month.

Looks like Mercy has her priorities in order!
