Simi has apologised unreservedly for comments she made about the LGBTQ community...

The singer and talk show host offended viewers of her 'Stoopid Sessions' YouTube show when she made an ill-informed comment that totally backfired.

Chatting abut dating amoungst millenials, the Duduke singer stated; "They (the gay community) say they’re born that way, but I haven’t seen any biological proof".

Her statement immediately set off widespread outrage, including criticism from Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi who branded the star 'homophobic'.

Now Simi has spoken out following all the backlash to issue a public apology, calling her words "careless and casual"

She wrote; "Nobody deserves hate like you're often given. Nobody should have to live in fear. I carelessly and casually addressed an issue that is a matter of life or death for many. It was not my intention to hurt you, but I did, and I am sorry".

Simi claimed she had educated herself on the struggles of the community in the country, who face criticism, discrimination and even death on a daily basis.

She added; "As a woman I understand discrimination, but I realise I may not understand the unique ways the LGBT community experiences it. I am learning, but I'm sorry at the same time, I did so at your expense"

We live and we learn!
