Racism, riots, police brutality and the death of US man George Floyd have been a huge talking point on social media over the last few days...

The world reacted in sheer anger and horror to a viral video clip of George's murder by a white Minnesota police officer last week and since then chaos has erupted in the streets of the country as citizens have protested, violently rioted and even looted stores and businesses in an attempt to express their outrage and demand #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd.

But despite the incident occurring in America, these types of issues are not foreign to other parts of the world- including Nigeria, Africa.

Back home, 16-year-old Tina Ezekwe was killed by a stray bullet from an allegedly drunk police officer who was attempting to extort a bribe from a local bus driver.

And it seems Nigerians have had enough too.

Toke Makwinwa took to Twitter to speak about how the issues posed real threats to innocent people.

She tweeted; "The problem with police brutality/killing/oppression in Nigeria is sad because we are all on the same side, the enemy is poverty, the real enemy is corruption, and selfishness, you harass our young guys, you extort citizens trying to make a living like you? It is pathetic".

Of corrupt policeman she added; "Or extort you for your hard earned money, pull you over for nothing, threaten your peace because he has a gun or he is wearing a uniform,....Africa o, the civilian is in trouble".

She also took the time to clap back at a follower who suggested she did not bring enough attention to the state of affairs in her own country.

Toke was not the only Naija star to speak up about the injustices civilians and black people face on a day-to-day basis

Tiwa Savage, Wikzkid, Simi and many more stars expressed their anger, frustration and fears over the recent spate of attacks.
