The South African entertainment industry must be feeling the heat!
Following a recent wave of xenophobic attacks in South Africa, allegedly targeted at Nigerians living in that country, our local celebs are taking a stand.
Burna Boy took the time to address the violence on his Twitter page. Although he was scheduled to perform at this year's AfroPunk Jorburg he said he would not set foot in South Africa until the situation has been resolved.
Following Burna's example, our number one African bad gyal Tiwa Svage also pulled out of the Dstv Delicious Festival due to the same reasons. Her tweet read in part: "I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is sick. For this reason I will not be performing at the upcoming Dstv delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the September 21".
Basketmouth has also cancelled his upcoming Comic Choice Awards appearance as well.
Hopefully these and other actions will propel our respective governments to take action as well.
