The late gospel musician Osinachi Nwachukwu's children have spoken up about the abhorrent nightmare they and their mother went through with their father Peter Nwachukwu. Pauline Tallen, Nigeria's Minister of Women Affairs, persuaded the kids to open out.
Osinachi Nwachukwu Children's Troubles
Osinachi supported the family financially. She brought the cash in, and the husband spent it however he pleased, giving the wife peanuts. The lady and the kids were routinely beaten by Peter Nwachukwu. The oldest child, who is 12 years old and in primary five, could hardly read, which was disconcerting.
Minister Pauline Tallen's Home Visit
Pauline Tallen was devastated by the terrible tales they told. She visited the deceased's Abuja home on reconnect with the grieving kids. The minister said, “It is so traumatizing, so heartbreaking, the death of Osinachi.”
"When I entered the compound, I noticed the kids—four lovely kids, three boys and a girl. Peter had already warned the kids not to talk to anyone about what had been happening at home."
The Minister continued "I entered the room with the ministry's directors. I saw that the kids were evasive while I was probing them. I asked everyone to leave and explained that I needed one-on-one time with the kids. I started by talking to the oldest son.”
Osinachi Nwachukwu Children's Disclosures
“I introduced myself and informed him that while the President and every Nigerian were concerned and that we were all joining them in mourning Osinachi's passing, we were really only looking for the truth from him”
"Then he let loose... and said that their mom was often depressed and that their dad battered her. She would be beaten and flogged by him. He claimed that if the mother entered the room to stop their father from assaulting the children, he would turn the tables on her and continue to beat her. The problem has always been that."
They said that their mother traveled while singing gospel songs and returned carrying cash; in fact, if the cash was paid through a bank account, it was deposited into his account. She doesn't have a bank account of her own; any money she earns goes into his hands, and he only gives her peanuts to eat.
Osinachi Financial Troubles
She doesn't have a bank account of her own; any money she earns goes into his hands, and he only gives her peanuts to eat. Additionally, their mother was always depressed and lived in fear. It was such a terrible tale told by a young lad, reportedly only 12 years old. He replied, "Class Five," when I asked him what class he was in. I asked "Why?" And he claimed he isn't even a reader. Therefore, this kid's mind is already vanguished.
When he was finished, "I called on the second son, fighting back tears." Tallen added that both the second and third sons experienced the same awful conditions. The minister promised that justice would be done in the case and that it would be handled appropriately.
