There's no disputing that Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA, had a wild year in 2021. One could even say that the artist lived out his greatest nightmare last year.
AKA began the year madly in love with his fiancé Nellie Thembe, and despite the fact that their relationship was mocked due to their age gap (AKA 33, Nelly 22), the couple were inseparable and deeply in love - or so we thought.
The two allegedly started dating back in January 2020, and just over a year later, the rapper surprised fans by announcing their engagement on social media in February 2021. Unfortunately, s hortly after paying lobola, the rapper unfortunately lost his fiancé in a fatal accident, that left many with more questions than answers.
Before we get into the specifics of the short-lived romance, let's take a look at the rapper's previous relationships.
Baby mama - DJ Zinhle
AKA and DJ Zinhle met in 2014 and were expecting their first child, Kairo, in 2015. Their relationship lasted only three years because the rapper cheated on his baby mama and shortly after their daughter was born, the two broke up. The couple decided to give love another try in 2018 and got back together. This was unsuccessful because they broke up in 2019 and this time around it was for good. The two have managed to sustain a decent co-parenting relationship over the years.
Queen B
Remember how we said the rapper left his baby mama after he cheated on her? Well, he cheated on her with none other than Bonang Matheba herself! Queen B and AKA tried their hardest to keep their romance out of the spotlight, but they failed terribly. The pair swept over social media with their aesthetically attractive 'couple goal' photos, and it was difficult to hate on the couple, despite numerous attempts from haters. However, after our girl Bonang allegedly cheated on the rapper, their relationship ended just as quickly as it began.
IG Baddie - Nicole Nyaba
Although AKA and Nicole never formally proclaimed their relationship, they were long associated. Nicole appeared to be AKA's next official lover, but when that didn't happen, the IG baddie packed her belongings and fled. But not without getting in a few snide comments for the rapper!
Despite the fact that Anele and AKA's romance was brief, their love story was heartfelt and their bond was unshakable. Following the death of his fiancée, the rapper fell into a deep depression and was prescribed medication. However, current speculations suggest that the rapper has found love once more. This time in the arms of fellow rapper Nadia Nakia; he even bought her a Rolex watch for Christmas. They haven't confirmed or denied the dating rumors, so perhaps 2022 will be the year they make it IG official.
