Rugby is a global sport that millions of people love and follow; in fact, there is a famous quote that says, 'Saturdays are for rugby.' We love this sport because of the cheering fans, die-hard fan base, thrilling tackles, war cries, and men in tight shorts. We decided to compile a list of Kenya's greatest rugby players of all time.
Collins Injera
Collins Injera's name has been shouted from the stands for nearly 15 years, and his skills have wowed millions upon millions of people worldwide. Injera came across rugby by chance while still in high school and has never looked back. He has appeared in a number of international games for Kenya, and in 2009, he helped the country reach the Rugby World Cup semi-finals. With 271 tries to his name, the rugby player is currently second in the World Rugby Sevens Series.
Humphrey Kayange
Humphrey Kayange, like his brother Collins Injera, has etched his name in rugby history. While playing for Kenya's National Sevens team, the former team captain won several times. He also holds a biochemistry degree and is a member of the International Olympic Committee.
Andrew Amonde
Andrew is generally acknowledged as one of the best rugby players of all time. He captained Kenya in both the 2016 and 2021 Olympic Games, and he led the Kenya Sevens to victory at the Singapore Sevens in 2016.
Despite his natural rugby talent, the former captain started his athletic career playing basketball and handball. Andrew, 37, chose to hang up his boots and leave the profession in 2021, he is currently focusing on personal projects..
Billy Odhiambo
Billy 'The Kid' Odhiambo is the final name on the list. Billy, like the majority of the other legendary figures on this list, began playing while still in high school. Billy was hand-picked and went on to receive a scholarship that allowed him to hone his craft, and he was named the Kenya Cup league's leading try scorer from 2012 to 2013. On a global scale, he continues to represent Kenya.
