Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry, is the second-largest film industry globally with an estimated market value of nearly $234.9 billion in 2020 coming after Bollywood, India’s film industry. Nollywood is also one of the top employers in the Nigerian economy and this film industry churns out about five to seven films a day for an estimated audience of fifteen million in Nigeria alone and five million across the world.

The Nigerian film industry plays a major role in the lives of citizens and people have obviously taken an interest in the lives of their favorite actors and actresses. This is a list of the top searched actors and actresses for the year 2021

Coming in at number one, Destiny Etiko topped the list. With a whopping 3.6million followers on Instagram, it is no secret that she is a fan favorite within the industry. Destiny began her acting career in 2011 and in 2016 she received public recognition and her first award, the City People Entertainment Awards for most Promising Actress.
Next on the list we have Azubuike Michael Egwu more commonly known as Zubby Michael. Zubby is not only an actor but also doubles up as a movie producer. In 2019 the actor was appointed as the Special Adviser on Media to the Anambra State governor, he was also recognized for the role he plays when it comes to youth empowerment in the Anambra State.

Pere Egbi was the third most searched actor in 2021. For a 35 year old, Pere has quite the resume under his belt. The part time actor is also a qualified nurse, he also happens to have served in the United States Military for six years, before moving back to his home country  Nigeria to pursue a career in real estate. The qualified nurse also dabbles in modelling in his part time.

Tonto Dikeh took the fourth spot. The actress has had quite a year and spent a lot of time in media blogs following the fallout she had with her former best friend and media personality Bobrisky. The mother of one also had a very public and messy breakup with her ex Joseph Egbri who is popularly known as Prince Kpokpogri, the two went back and forth posting and sharing very personal and information about each other and airing their dirty laundry.
Number five on the list was Alice Iyabo Ojo. Alice Iyabo Ojo is an actress, director, and producer who has featured in over 150 films, and has produced more than 14 of her own movies. What a powerhouse!

The list also included a few other popular names and fan favorites such as Olu Jacobs, Nafisa Abdullahi, Jim Iyke, Nancy Isime and Alex Ekubo.
