Banky W wanted to win a position in the House of Representatives for Lagos' Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, but he was defeated by Babajide Obanikoro. Despite the defeat, Banky W won two polling units in Eti-Osa. Banky W claimed he was proud of what he accomplished in just three months and promised to return in four years stronger than ever.

He stated on Instagram, "I hope we realize that conquering some regions in Eti-Osa... is proof that we can accomplish this anyplace."

Banky W is married to Adesua Etomi, an actress. In 2017, the couple got engaged. Several stories claim that Banky W and Adesua Etomi first met in 2012. Banky W and his wife, Adesua Etomi, do not share any children. Several reports surfaced in early 2019 claiming that the actress was expecting her first child. She was adamant about not confirming or denying the rumors. "They don't live in my uterus." Nobody can put pressure on me," she wrote in May of that year on Instagram.

Adesua appeared to have a baby bump in a snapshot taken in July. Adesua's Instagram page was deactivated in September 2019, fueling rumours about a probable pregnancy. According to some accounts, she is simply taking a break from social media.

There have been rumors that Banky W is feuding with Wizkid, another Nigerian celebrity. Wizkid apparently had a falling out with him after he failed to show up for his wedding in 2017. However, in an interview with ThisDay, he refuted the allegations.

"I believe that people unfairly criticized Wiz, and that many of them were overly harsh on him for missing my wedding. Many people overlook the fact that One Africa Music Fest was taking place in Dubai at the same time as my traditional wedding. So there were a lot of other performers at the event who were struggling to get back in time for the wedding," he explained.

He claimed that he purchased the car in 2011 in a lengthy letter addressed to the "stalker." Banky W claimed that he promised himself at the time that he would not buy another until he had purchased his first home.
