Nollywood's Bad Boy Is A Daddy Now

Many men have risen through the ranks in Nollywood. Some couldn't make it past the first hurdle, few bowed out of the game after a successful run. 
Only a select few have been able to maintain relevance.

One of such people is Jim Iyke. His run in the industry cuts across the old Nollywood of home videos and new Nollywood of digital media. Jim Iyke’s character is known to be passionate, dramatic, arrogant, aggressive and often a returnee from a foreign country. Though he has movies that portray his character in a humble state, they are few and far between. He has been crowned as Nollywood’s Bad-Boy
Early life and Family
James Ikechukwu Esomugha was born on the 5 September 1976 in Libreville, Gabon to the family of Mr and Mrs Stephen Esomugha. He hails from Enuguagidi town in Anambra state. He has seven sisters and attended Federal Government College, Kwali Abuja between 1985 and 1991. After his secondary education, Jim went to the University of Jos to obtain a diploma in Banking and Finance, after which he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy.
In 2007, he established a movie production company name “Untamed Productions” and his music record label named “Untamed Records”. Under the label, he released his single “Who Am I”. The song featured artistes like TuFace Idibia and Sound Sultan.

 In 2017, a video of Jim Iyke’s deliverance at The Synagogue Church of All Nations, led by Pastor T.B. Joshua went viral. He allegedly underwent deliverance to drive evil spirits delaying his marriage away from his body.

Little is known about Jim Iyke’s relationship status. He has been linked to Ghanian actress Nadia Buhari and also linked to Jamaican supermodel Keturah Hamilton. Asides this, he is one of the public figures who have been able to keep their personal lives away from the prying eyes of the public. In his social media posts, he talks about his two children from time to time, but not much is known about them.

 Aside from acting and movie producing, Jim Iyke is also a philanthropist and a humanitarian. He founded Jim lyke Foundation for children with special needs.

Awards and nomination
The actor has won many awards both at home and abroad. 
 He has won the Best Actor at the 2008 Nigerian Entertainment Awards. His won Best Actor at the African Achievement Awards and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) In 2010, for his performance in the thriller movie “The Cat” where he played the role of a leader of a secret cult confraternity in the university campus. In 2010 he won the Best Actor of the Year and Sexiest Man in Nigeria at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2011, the honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) was conferred on him by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Jim Iyke’s twenty-year career has resulted in several movies to his credit. Some of the titles he has featured include The Cat, Extreme Mission, American Boy, Between Kings and Queens, Last Flight to Abuja, When Love Comes Around, American Driver, Merry Men 1 and 2, Cold Feet.
Some of the actors he has worked with are Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Ay Makun, Ramsey Nouah, Joselyn Dumas, Eyinna Nwigwe, to mention a few. He is often called “Nollywood bad-boi” for his roles in action thriller films.

Jim Iyke calls himself a stylist’s nightmare because of his unorthodox style.

He is an entrepreneur with businesses in travel, construction, real estate, logistics, IT and Brokerage.

Jim has spent over twenty years in the industry, however, he doesn't seem to be hanging his boots anytime soon.
