Reminisce Controversy

Reminisce was once rumoured to be in business with fraudsters who were helping him gain so much recognition through his music. However, Reminisce dispelled those rumours;

“For me, I was paid to perform and it’s not my business to find out the kind of job they do, or if someone sprays me money on stage, would I tell my manager, please find out the kind of job he does. Like you now (talking to this reporter), I don’t know what you do behind closed doors, it’s not my job! My own na to sing. They are my fans.

“You see, Malaysia is just like any other country, it has a huge presence of Nigerians and they are mostly students. There are fraudsters in London, U.S., everywhere. This one of the reasons I don’t dig the social media that much, they say rubbish a lot,”
he said.

Some rappers who rap in English felt that Reminisce's lyrics from his controversial single, 'Local Rappers' were targeted at them.

The song had a line that said 'punchlines don't bring in the money anymore' and many believed this jab was directed at M.I and Modenine.

However, in an interview, Modenine shrugged off the notion that the song was not directed at him.

“ It’s a lovely song. When I heard it I felt it was a satire meant to ruffle some feathers though but it cannot be directed at artistes who still use punchlines in their raps."

Modenine said that punchlines will forever bring in the money no matter what.
