Richard Mofe Damijo is one of the best actors to have come out of Nigeria.

Apart from his acting career, Richard is also the former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the Delta State in Nigeria. 

His time on TV has always left viewers begging for more and he's appeared in a number of films and movies to this day.

He was born on July 6 1961. He is 59 years old.

Richard Mofe Damijo Early Life


Richard was born and raised in the  Aladja community.

Richard was very close to his parents and although they are not with him anymore, he cherishes every moment they spent together and he always shares their images on social media.

Richard Mofe Damijo Education


It seems from a very young age, Richard always wanted to be an actor. Richard went to the Midwest College and Anglican Grammar School. During his time at that school, Richard was part of the drama club. 

He then enrolled at the University of Benin where he studied Theatre Arts. In 1997 Mofe-Damijo studied law at the University of Lagos and he graduated in 2004.

Richard Mofe Damijo Marriage


Richard was once married to the lovely May Ellen-Ezekiel and they had one child together, Oghenekome Mofe-Damijo. Sadly, May lost her life in 1996.

He then got married to TV personality, Jumobi Adegbesan in 2000. The couple has got four children together.

Richard is also a proud grandfather and his grandson Kobi turned 3 in 2020.

Richard Mofe Damijo Career


Before he appeared on the big screen, he worked as a reporter at Concord Newspapers and at Metro Magazine. Richard published and sold Nigeria’s first all-gloss magazine for men titled Mister whilst in his thirties.

Richard's first gig on the big screen was when he appeared in a soap opera titled 'Ripples' 

In 2008, he got the opportunity to serve in his governement in the Delta State as a Commissioner of Culture and Tourism.

In 2018, he announced that he was going to appear in a sitcom, Mr X Family, that has ever since left viewers always wanting more. Richard is also the producer of the sitcom.

Mr. X played by Richard, is all about a wealthy, influential, single dad trying to run a successful business, raise his 3 kids to turn out right and navigate the intriguing world of dating as he tries to find love again against the wishes of his kids.

He stars in the sitcom along other award winning actors namely; Ego Boyo Nina Anyianuka, Mozez Praiz and Isabella Idibia who is 2baba's daughter.

He also appeared in a series titled 'The Perfect Picture: 10 years later' which was released in 2019. The movie starred other movie legends like John Dumelo and Jackie Appiah.

In that same year, he also starred in a movie titled 'SEVEN'. Other movies that he appeared in are; Gold Statue, Made In Heaven, Love is War, Blood and Oil, Chief Daddy and Heaven on my Mind to name a few.

Sadly when you are a public figure there's some controversy that always follows you around. In 2020, Richard had a run in with one actor named Obi Czer who accused Richard of destroying Nollywood.

In a lengthy post he wrote how Richard was collecting less money to appear in a movie and Obi Czer felt that Richard should have been collecting more money. Richard was getting paid a low salary, he destroyed the movie industry leaving nothing for the upcoming actors.
