The late Nigerian actor, who began by painting a portion of his body black was well-known for his comical sense of style and dominated the Yoruba film business for decades. But eventually, at the height of his career, he quit donning the outrageous makeup.

Baba Sulwe Biography

When Baba Suwe dropped out of secondary school at the age of 18, he was in form four and began performing. The passion developed when Baba Mero and his troupe arrived at the Children's boarding school in Osogbo to perform. After seeing them, he acquired drums and other musical instruments, selected a number of men from his neighborhood, including Mufitau Ilumoka, Sola Taiwo, and a large number of others, and established a theater troupe.

It is what evolved into the name "Baba Suwe" as we know it today. His debut performance took place on Lagos Island's Amuto playground. Despite being a free show, he was overjoyed to see how well it performed.

As a result of his appearance in the Obalende production "Omolasan", he gained notoriety. He had starred in and produced a number of Nigerian films, including Baba Jaiye Jaiye, in which the veteran actor Adebayo Salami's son Femi Adebayo and Funke Akindele both appeared. His contemporary films include N150 Million (2003), Kowope (2004), and 36 Kiniun (2003).

From 1995 until her passing in 2009, Baba Suwe was married to Mrs. Monsurat Omidina, a well-known actress and comedian better known by her stage name Omoladun Kenkelewu. Junior Ominida, Halimat Omidina, and Okiki Omidina are his three children.

His stepdaughter, Omolara Kareem, accused him of killing her mother after the death of his wife. She asserted that Monsurat's fights with her husband were the reason why she died.

The renowned actor experienced a stroke in 2017, and was been unable to move ever since. He blamed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency's detention for his health issues (NDLEA).

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency accused him of trafficking cocaine in 2011, but the Lagos High Court of Law ruled that the accusation was false and defamatory. His legal counsel was the late Bamidele Aturu, a human rights advocate and lawyer from Nigeria.
