Yul Edochie Gets His Father’s Blessing To Run For Presidency In 2023

Many entertainers have gone into business to become entrepreneurs. Some have diverted into construction, technology, hospitality, aviation, beauty, importing, to name a few.
Some too have gone into politics, like Desmond Elliot presently a lawmaker in Lagos state. Kate Henshaw once contested to be a representative for her home town in Cross River. Banky W contested for a senatorial district in Lagos in 2019.
But no one has ever attempted to run for the presidency, until Yul Edochie.


The actor, entrepreneur and son of one of Nigeria’s veterans in the entertainment industry, Pete Edochie, received his father’s blessings today, due to his belief that he had raised his son right, and Yul had a positive track record and the right mindset to be the first citizen of Nigeria.

On Pete’s Instagram page, he posted the video where he endorsed his son:

On Yul’s Instagram page, he shared the same video with the caption
My Father Chief Pete Edochie endorses my 2023 Presidential ambition.
 God Almighty, take absolute control.

He later uploaded another picture and captioned it:  

PRESIDENCY 2023.
  We have done enough talking.
 It's time to do the work.
 We need you. 
 We need your support.
 I appeal to every well-meaning Nigerian and every Nigerian youth to join us and build a United, peaceful and progressive country that will put the interest of the common man first.
The other young people who have contested for the presidency in Nigeria are Fela Durotoye and Kingsley Moghalu.

As a politician, In 2017 following the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Bill, Yul contested for the Governorship of Anambra state, under the umbrella of the Democratic Peoples Congress, a political party with a foothold in the East. The election was won by Willie Obiano. In 2018, He was appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Creative & Entertainment Media to the Anambra State Governor.

He is the last of six children born to Pete Edochie and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of PortHarcourt.

He was named after a Russian actor Yul Brenner. In a bid to introduce more young people to the creative industry, Yul opened a film academy in Lagos, called the Yul Edochie Academy. The vision of the academy as shared by him is to train the next generation of Nollywood actors and actresses and to give talented people the opportunity to be introduced to the Nigerian Film Industry.
As an actor, Yul joined the entertainment industry in 2005 with the movie ‘The Exquirers’ and has featured in several films and television productions. His claim to fame is the movie is ‘Wind of Glory’ which featured Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot.

In 2019, he was involved in a car crash that left the car badly damaged but he came out unharmed.
He shared the news with a picture of the totalled car and the caption filled with gratitude.
